Game is an immersive video installation that explores how humans use simulated environments and events to mimic interaction with wild animals. Set within a Bale Blind (a fake hay bale hunters hide inside of while waiting for their prey), viewers who enter come across four videos documenting a shopping trip to the Bass Pro Shop, a Finnish dog test, various natural history museum dioramas, and a 3D archery range. Each of these spaces use animal bodies, either fake or taxidermied, to simulate a hunter’s encounter with their kill, the experience of seeing animals on other continents, and a dog and owner’s reaction to stumbling upon a bear or wildcat in the forest. This piece asks the viewer to consider their own relationship with nature and why simulation sometimes feels more real than the natural world.
